"Control Towers create a multi-sport roof rack attachment system for almost any vehicle when combined with Landing Pads (sold separately). These snap-fit towers, with their easy-to-use locking cape, lock down snugly to any of seven custom-designed Landing Pads Together, Control Towers and Landing Pads can be installed on most any factory tracks, or directly to pick-up truck caps Attachment to Landing Pads is quick and easy; snap-fit design provides solid, secure fit to vehicle Multi-sport system carries a full load of gear and accessories (see Fit Guide for other parts and accessories) This system's track application makes the crossbar spread easy to adjust without removing the towers and bars Low-profile, aerodynamic design Yakima SKS-lock compatible Control Tower system is comprised of 3 components: a set of Control Towers, two pairs of Landing Pads and a pair of Round Bars (all sold separately Control Tower UNLEASH YOUR INNER CONTROL FREAK WITH THIS MULTI-SPORT TOWER THAT CAN FIT ALMOST ANY ROOF AND CARRY ANY LOAD. - Requires Crossbars and LandingPads - Locks into a LandingPad base for a custom fit - Fully adjustable crossbar spread for track applications - Won't give you a nervous breakdown, unlike working in an air traffic control tower Q; What else is needed to complete a basic rack set up? A: You will need two pairs of Landing Pads and one pair of crossbars. Check the fit list to see which Landing Pads and crossbar length is correct for your vehicle.Q: Is there a way I can make it taller? A: There is no way to make the towers taller.Q: How much can I carry? A:This varies by vehicle, load type and crossbar length. Check the fit list to find out what load types (bikes, skis, boats, etc.) and weight capacity applies to your car. The fit list will also tell you the best crossbar length (48", 58", 66", or 78") to use. You can go up one size if necessary, but duck your head.Q: What sort of maintenance should I perform? A: Performing maintenance is always a good idea to protect your car and make your rack system last longer. Lubricate nuts, screws, or bolts with grease. Lubricate locks with graphite. Remove the rack when not in use, or at least periodically to clean the pads and the vehicles roof. Clean the rack periodically, especially in marine environments and where road salt is used.Q: Will the rack make a lot of noise? A: Maybe. Wind noise is hard to predict, but it is more often an issue when the rack has little or no load. Yakima makes two products, the Fairing and Windjammer, to help control this situation. Large loads tend to dampen noise also. If you have a sunroof the fairing is a good way to help control air flow.Q: How do I know if the towers are installed correctly? A: Check the safety steps in the Control Tower instructions. These guidelines will show you if the fit is correct.Q: Will it damage my car? A: Yakima takes fitting cars very seriously, and do everything they can to minimize any effect our rack may have on your cars. However, anything coming into contact with a car's finish, our racks included, will have some effect over time, and some cars are more prone to these issues than others. So where the possibility of such issues is predictable, Yakima makes note of that in the Fit List. When the rack will not be in use for an extended period, it is a good idea to take the rack off of the car. You can also do a lot for yourself by: (1) Making sure the car is clean and well waxed prior to installing the rack, (2) Following all instructions for installation and usage, and (3) avoiding situations, like car washes, where the rack may be impacted."
